Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, motivated Consultant to work in the Inpatients / Crisis Team based at the Stonebow Unit, Hereford. You will cover approximately 12 patients on mixed general adult Mortimer Ward and 1x / week Crisis Team and be supported by 2 junior doctors, ANP and / or ST4 trainee. Mortimer Ward is undergoing refurbishment to provide a modern, therapeutic environment for acute adult patients. You will be delivering ECT alongside other consultants and join 1 in 11 on-call rota. You will have a dedicated office and a secretary. The Trust is committed to delivering the best mental health care and support the leadership development of their clinicians. We aim to reflect the diversity of our population and practice social inclusion. The overall sessional pay with on-call commitments will be 11 PA+ 1PA retention+1%+3%. The county of Herefordshire is a classic mix of rural and city living and can provide an excellent work / life balance. Main duties of the job Mortimer Ward is a 20 bed mixed gender ward, admitting on average 5 patients a week, 60% of the patients are detained. The 2 Consultants covering the ward share the caseload, the vacancy is for covering the South of Herefordshire. This post is well-established and for many years filled by long-term colleagues; it became available due to an early retirement of the previous consultant. There is a weekly local teaching programme and a Trusts Grand Rounds monthly. You will be supported in your CPD and development of a special interest. Knowledge about the NHS and understanding the evidence base underpinning the delivery of high quality services., Essential

  • Provision of high quality mental health services, as trainee or Consultant.
  • Previous experience of working in a clinical leadership role with positive relationships with team members.
  • Qualifications Essential
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • CCT holder or equivalent (or within 6 months of becoming eligible for CCT)
  • Current full registration with the GMC (or eligible for full registration with the GMC at the time of appointment).
  • GMC Licence to practice.
  • MRC Psych (or equivalent)
  • Approval (or eligible for approval) under Section 12 (2) of the Mental Health Act.
