Full Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking Consultant Psychiatrist with a strong interest in mood disorders and clinical research. The ideal candidate will be a leader who thrives on collaboration, innovation, and making a real-world impact.

This post is available as 8 programmed activity sessions in the first year, with additional clinical sessions available in our Liaison or General Adult Psychiatry teams.

Are you a passionate and visionary Consultant Psychiatrist with a drive to transform mental health care through research? This is your chance to lead the development of a ground-breaking Psychiatry Research Clinic focused on mood disorders and to make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals.

This role offers a unique opportunity to pioneer a new research clinic, where you will have the freedom to shape its direction. You will develop and lead both commercial and non-commercial research projects, aligned with your expertise and interests in clinical interventions for mood disorders. This is a chance to develop your research potential and contribute to the advancement of mental health care on a national scale.

You will collaborate with the University of Exeter Medical School, as well as other national Mental Health Mission sites. This partnership will enable you to drive innovation and excellence in mental health research. As part of this role, you will also contribute to research leadership within Devon Partnership NHS Trust, helping to shape the future of mental health care.

The position is based in a modernised, historic listed building, with easy access to university and acute hospital facilities. Additionally, a brand-new,£2M purpose-built Mental Health Clinical Research Facility is set to open in 2026, providing state-of-the-art resources to support your work., About Devon Partnership Trust
