Full Job Description

NDRS includes the National Cancer Registration and Analysis Service (NCRAS), one of the largest, most advanced and complex cancer data collections anywhere in the world and the National Congenital Anomaly and Rare Disease Registration Service (NCARDRS) now the largest active congenital anomaly register in the world. Both are population-based disease registers collecting information on cancer, congenital anomalies and rare diseases in England. We provide expert analysis and interpretation of the data we collect and it is used as a source of intelligence for patients, clinicians, public health, health-care performance, basic and applied research, and commissioning. · Define technology engineering strategy for Data Platforms, including KPIs and how to report on them. · Develop & maintain skills competency framework for NDRS in alignment to Data Platform Engineering and associated training & development plans. · Actively participate in leadership of the NHS England Engineering Centre of Excellence. · Monitor the application of the Software Engineering Quality Framework & GDS Technology Code of Practice across the Data Platforms Engineering teams and take improvement actions where the application is deficient. · Provide hands-on technical leadership, in the development, operation and ongoing improvement of complex, transformational digital services serving millions of users. · Work with product managers to understand user needs for new and existing services. · Act as the technical authority in prospective, information gathering and scene setting meetings with other government departments, evaluate technical proposals from external suppliers, and make implementation recommendations to senior stakeholders. · Work with delivery teams and partners to break technical requirements down into appropriate pieces, and to identify key API requirements for integration with internal and external systems.
