Reporting to the Regional Manager you will take responsibility in leading the Divisions project delivery across our varied portfolio of civil infrastructure works in the safety and operationally critical environment of the Aviation Division. The Contract Manager's purpose is to lead the day-to-day delivery of the MAG Framework; from client-liaison & ECI, tender, delivery to close-out and hand-over. As the Contracts Manager you will manage project delivery teams across all 3 airports, including the line-management of Project Managers, ensuring that they have the correct resources to deliver the works. You will have Commercial ownership of the project and will work closely with the Regional Manager and the Commercial team, to ensure that risks and issues are managed effectively allowing successful project delivery. It is key that you can build effective working relationships quickly with a variety of stakeholders and personalities. You should be comfortable in a variety of settings, able to adapt to their surroundings. This will enable them to develop relationships with key repeat clients (such as ongoing Frameworks) and have a clear understanding of the forward workload/pipeline to feed into the monthly cost and forecasting cycles. Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Work with the Regional Manager to establish the Dyer & Butler's presence on the Framework whilst developing new project opportunities establishing quick and strong relationships with the client and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage the tender process for projects you are responsible for and ensure that competitive bids are produced with adequate resources for safe and efficient project delivery.
  • Ensure the efficient management of resources to provide safe delivery of a quality end-product with minimum risk to the environment. Implementing company systems to ensure competent labour and sub-contractors are available to deliver work safely and economically.
  • Working with the commercial team to understand the contract including all relevant obligations and commitments. Typically limited to the NEC3 and NEC4 series of contracts but may include other common forms or client bespoke agreements.
  • Ensure contract cost is controlled and value is correctly recovered (including managing reimbursable costs and change/variations) to ensure commercial success
  • Promote the company values of Safety, People, Delivery, Integrity to your team through leadership and to the client through engagement.
  • Liaise with key client contacts and foster a positive and collaborative working relationship with all current and potential sources of viable work.
  • Comply with the client specification and the company policies and procedures; ensuring that Dyer & Butler meets their obligations under law and the current ISO accreditations.

Aviation experience in airfield project delivery is highly desirable - experience in AGLs is a distinct advantage.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and leading a team.
  • Comfortable travelling between Manchester, East Midlands and Stansted Airports weekly to support the delivery teams and engage regularly with clients.
  • Hold an HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent experience in a civil engineering related subject.
  • Demonstrable experience within the civil engineering and infrastructure sector.
  • Strong Client engagement skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both written and orally across the client and Dyer and Butler personnel.
  • Drive and passion to win work and deliver excellence continuously.
  • Commitment to the highest practicable standards of health & safety, quality and environmental protection.
