Full Job Description

Mainscale + TLR 2B

Required for a January 2025 start

Golborne is a flourishing 11-16 secondary school that is proud to provide an exceptional education for the children of Golborne and Lowton. We are one of a very small number of state, comprehensive secondary schools in the North West to be awarded an Ofsted judgement of Outstanding (January 2023), and we are exceptionally proud of what this means for the pupils who attend our school and the staff who work here. As well as excellent GCSE results, that are well above the national average, pupils at Golborne receive a well-rounded curriculum and a wide range of opportunities for personal development beyond the classroom.

Under the leadership of a new headteacher since January 2024, Golborne is excited to continue our journey to delivering a world-class education for our students and to become a beacon of excellence at the heart of the community. We believe that our staff are our greatest asset and we invest in them by putting their wellbeing and development at the centre of all we do. We operate a flexible working policy that allows staff to work from home when appropriate and we have a wellbeing policy that rewards and motivates staff. We are the lead school for Generate Teaching Hub and work together with our partners to deliver school to school support, CPD and early career framework structures. We deliver an exceptional in-house induction programme and bespoke CPD pathways for staff at all stages of their career.

We are looking to appoint an exceptional Teacher of Music to lead this successful Department into the next stage of its journey. You will lead the Department in developing the teaching, learning, curriculum, quality assurance to ensure that an already successful Department reaches its goal of being 'exceptional'.

We are a self-improving school and our commitment is to developing and supporting all of our staff in their chosen career path. We deliver a comprehensive induction programme and encourage all of our staff to be ambitious for their futures. The role would suit professionals who have the drive and a determination to ensure that all children succeed. The successful applicants will also demonstrate an ambition to develop in their role and embrace the CPD that is available to support them in becoming an outstanding practitioner.

We are looking to appoint a colleague who has a proven track record of raising standards in Music and who can demonstrate inspirational teaching and a passion for delivering lessons which are motivational, challenging and engaging. You will need to demonstrate the energy, enthusiasm and commitment to work as part of a team which is determined to achieve 'outstanding'. In return you will work in an exceptional and supportive environment that will further develop your professional skills and ambitions.
