Full Job Description
Leading a team of around 35, your work will impact 100s of thousands of people coming to the UK to work and study. You will provide effective policy support and challenge to operational colleagues. In particular, Visa, Status and Information Services (VSI) Directorates within the Home Office's Customer Services Capability. You will demonstrate sound, pragmatic decision making in considering the impact of policy on operations and programme delivery and will keep opportunities for policy-enabled efficiencies under review. You will also be responsible for setting the overall strategy and direction for economic migration system, appropriately weighing the balance between reducing net migration and supporting economic growth. The postholder will be responsible for:
- Lead on key aspects of the overall economic migration policy within the future border and immigration system ('FBIS'), engaging directly with Ministers, No.10 and OGDs.
- Taking an evidence based approach to reforming the points-based immigration routes to meet HMG objectives including routes for skilled work, students and global talent.
- Undertake significant stakeholder engagement with external partners, supporting Ministers where appropriate.
- Work closely with operational partners and enablers in the borders and immigration system to ensure the current and future immigration system works effectively.
- Contribute to overall management of the FBIS programme and act as a senior representative for the programme in a range of forum.
- Lead a team of around 35 people with a focus on diversity and inclusion.
