Full Job Description

The Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA) is committed to paying compensation as quickly as we can, while also supporting those who are claiming. Effective, open and transparent communications will play an important part in this. This is a fast paced role that will help lead the delivery of a communication and engagement function for IBCA, overseeing the effective design and delivery of relevant strategies and ensuring objective setting, standards and reporting. You'll be a highly experienced communication and engagement leader with a background that includes a range of disciplines including media, digital, marketing, internal comms, external affairs and marketing. You'll have extensive experience in setting and delivering multi-channel communication campaigns that are insight-led, audience-centred and outcome-focussed and be comfortable leading engagement events both internally and externally. You'll lead a team that wants to do everything it can to ensure the infected blood community is kept informed about the development of IBCA's claim service, through a range of channels and approaches. From community events and updates to informing Parliamentarians, stakeholder bodies and the general public, you'll have a strategic view across all our audiences and channels to help us deliver compensation, support those claiming and build trust in our ability to do so. You will be directly working with members of the infected blood community, and need to demonstrate a commitment to supporting those impacted by the scandal with candour, transparency and kindness. Reporting into the Director of Communication and Engagement, this role will lead the delivery of the communication, engagement and marketing strategy for IBCA through effective leadership of the team, and setting priorities with clear measurement. Critical to success will be ensuring that IBCA is a trusted and transparent organisation, which puts those impacted by the infected blood scandal first, and is tireless in ensuring all of those who are eligible for compensation are able to claim it.,

  • Forming and leading a highly motivated and empowered communication and engagement team that has a clear plan to deliver IBCA's corporate priorities through creative, engaging and successful communication.
  • Working directly with members of the Infected Blood community.
  • Deputising for the Director at Executive and Board level.
  • Setting the direction, standards and metrics to ensure we communicate clearly using insight, focussed on our audiences and with clear purpose and measurable outcomes.
  • Leading the directorate's senior leadership team, ensuring they are cohesive, creative and collaborative.
  • Ensuring a campaign approach which delivers across the full communication mix including media, digital, engagement, marketing, strategic communication and internal comms to support our objective to pay compensation to each and every person who is eligible.
  • Providing relevant links to communication functional standards.
  • Ensuring all financial, commercial and budget expectations are met.
