Full Job Description
The focus of the job is to support and deputise for the targeted Early Help Team Manager within a district. This will involve:
- Deputising for the Team Manager, managing some members of the team, leading on some allocation meetings, supervision of casework and oversight of performance to ensure the Service Practice Standards are met.
- To manage and motivate members of the team as allocated, supervising casework and providing support and challenge in order to develop early help practice and achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
- To allocate referrals within the team and to the commissioned provider, ensuring these are appropriate to the needs of children and families and the skills and experience of staff.
- To assist the Team Manager in managing and developing the team, including through contributing to recruitment and induction, appraisals, professional development, management of performance and any disciplinary or grievance processes.
- To provide formal and informal, individual and group supervision, keeping accurate records and producing reports as required.
- Working with the Team Manager, to provide leadership to the team, modelling the service corporate values and the Children's Social Care and Early Help approach to practice, and ensuring a focus on the delivery of positive outcomes for children and families.
Working within Oldham Council's (rated Good by Ofsted) Targeted Early Help service, you will be an outstanding Early Help / Family worker with strong knowledge and application of good practice and also delivery of high quality targeted early help to children and families including leading multi-agency early help. You may also have experience of developing and leading a team., Extensive experience of working within a service delivering support to families who have complex lives which may include mental health, offending, substance misuse, domestic abuse and may be resistant to service involvement. - Substantial experience of assessing and analysing the needs of children and families and implementing programmes of support to address these.
- Substantial experience of leading multi-agency work and a strong knowledge base of understanding how teams are motivated, including the establishment of a positive performance culture.
