About the Role: As the Health Records Lead, you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the Trust's health records department. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing the health records team to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to health records management.
  • Implementing and maintaining robust systems for the secure storage, retrieval, and disposal of health records.
  • Collaborating with clinical and administrative staff to support patient care and operational needs.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality and accessibility of health records., Responsible for the day to day management and performance of the Health Records service and staffing in East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
  • Provide day to day management support to operational staff.
  • Ensure that key targets are achieved for as per the NHS Plan.
  • Assist in the provision of a comprehensive health records management service including, creation, storage, retrieval, tracking, access, disposal and destruction.
  • Assist with service redesign, service development, project design and implementation.
  • Assist with the development of local policies and protocols to support the redesign of processes involving all key stakeholders.

  • Extensive experience in health records management within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Exceptional organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of data security and patient confidentiality., Professional qualification at Degree level or equivalent
  • Diploma of the Institute of Health Record & Information Management or equivalent, Previous experience in a Management role including change management
  • Experience in Record Management
  • Budgetary experience
  • Project Management
  • Excellent IT Skills
  • Knowledge of the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and Information Governance
  • Desirable criteria
  • Previous Health Records Experience
  • A good basic understanding of the technical aspect of the scanning process from capture to import into the Electronic Document Records Management System (EDRMS), Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with staff from all different environments, internal and externally
  • Willingness to undertake additional training for the role, especially technical training around the scanners and systems
  • Excellent organisational and change Management skills.
  • Ability to present to a wide audience
  • Able to prioritise workload and work under pressure to meet defined deadlines
  • Ability to analysis data and interpreting information and forming action plans
  • Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of structure of metadata and XML file structure, Team Player
  • Flexible in hours and site

  • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.

Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.
