Ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and a knowledge of the relevant legal framework is essential, along with the ability to maintain and develop systems to enable required data to be collected and reported. Supervision of staff is a key part of the role, along with performance and absence management. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential, ensuring all recording is accurate and timely, and that audits and all quality assurance is carried out effectively. The ability to
motivate a team and work co-operatively with the Registered Manager and commissioners in the continuing development of the service within a budgetary framework is essential. We are looking for a manager who is positive, creative, organised and able to work with families and other professionals, along with the ability to take responsibility for the service in the Manager's absence.

The ability to communicate and form relationships with professionals, staff, families and children is vital, along with experience of working with disabled children. A good knowledge of different communication needs of disabled children is required. A thorough knowledge of care planning and the Child In Need and safeguarding processes and how the residential unit contributes to these is essential. The administration of medication and carrying out of clinical tasks is crucial for the staff within the service, therefore a willingness to undertake extensive training in these areas is essential.
The postholder must be confident, self-motivated and able to work both as part of the team and on their own initiative, managing their time well whilst meeting deadlines. The hours of the post are flexible and some work from home is possible currently, depending on the needs of the service, and the postholder is required to work alternate weekends.
