Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse - Evershot | Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Evershot unit cares for patients with an estimated hospital stay of up to 72 hrs. Their primary function is to support the emergency pathways and flow, and to ensure that patients who are admitted under a specific criteria, have a shorter length of stay in the in the acute hospital.

The caseload of patients are primarily under the care of the acute medical team however the unit are also developing pathways within other specialties including surgery, ENT, & cardiology.

Within your clinical role you will be expected to coordinate o the unit in the absence of the supervisory Lead, liaise with the Emergency Department, and clinical site team. This is to ensure that appropriate patients, in line with our specific criteria, are pulled up from ED onto the unit promptly so as to optimise the emergency flow.

You will also be encouraged to develop leadership skills to include staff management, & networking, whilst ensuring the patient remains central to all decision making. You will be expected to deputise for the Senior lead in their absence and engage in operational oversight so as to support the function of the unit.
