Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen here in our Bolton Inpatient Mental Health Unit where we have been awarded additional monies to increase our overall staffing across each wards. We have 3 Inpatient Wards that are located at the Royal Bolton Hospital site and are based within the Rivington unit. Beech ward is a 22 bedded male acute psychiatric service. Oak ward is a 20 bedded female acute psychiatric service. Maple House is a 6 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Nursing Unit. The inpatient wards provides support to adults of working age, it involves providing assessments, treatment and support to service users within the GM footprint who may be experiencing psychiatric crisis and often present with complex mental health needs. We currently have 1 full time position within each ward and we are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate individuals who; have a positive attitude towards mental health and promoting recovery, have an understanding of positive behavioral support, are committed to delivering person centered & trauma informed care and want to support working age adults in their recovery. We pride ourselves on a recovery model of care and the reduction of restrictive practices underpins our practice, therefore your knowledge and leadership in this will be essential. Deputy Ward Managers within the Inpatient Unit are active members of the ward management team, responsible for supporting the Ward Manager in the operational management and leadership of the Ward. As a Deputy Ward Manager, your responsibilities will be;

  • Up hold the values of the ward promoting openness, transparency and learning
  • Supervision of junior staff
  • Enthusiastic mentor to new staff, newly qualified nurses and junior staff
  • Oversee certain areas of clinical expertise such as medication management and physical health provision on the ward
  • Support the Ward Manager with HR tasks such as return to works and sickness monitoring
  • Accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Manage shifts as a nurse in charge
  • Conducting thorough assessments of risks and risk management plans to support incidents on the ward
  • We are looking for an individual who is resilient, driven and passionate to provide high quality nursing care to our patients, whist supporting the leadership within both Oak and Beech ward.
