Full Job Description
We have an exciting opening for a Director of Compliance to lead our talented in-house compliance team. While based in the UK, this role will require you to take overall responsibility for regulatory compliance across the UK and Ireland Group. Day-to-day, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficacy of our compliance monitoring programs and ensuring that breaches are managed efficiently, with appropriate mediative actions taken and lessons learnt. By collaborating with our business line and operations leaders, you'll also use your communication skills and key regulatory knowledge to ensure appropriate training and competency policies, and that all necessary monitoring and certification, takes place.Your day-to-day
- Undertake the SMF16 function (and Irish equivalent) for all regulated entities within the growing UK&I Group
- Ensure full compliance with FCA regulations, Irish Central Bank requirements and other relevant regulatory requirements, providing expert guidance to the executive team and board
- Oversee the development, implementation, and review of compliance policies and procedures
- Oversee and measure the efficacy of compliance monitoring programs, conducting audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential compliance risks
- Oversee the management and resolution of compliance breaches, ensuring appropriate remediation actions are taken and lessons learned are implemented
- Leadership of the Compliance team for the UK and Ireland including organisation of team and responsibilities and management of performance
- Ensure that executive apportionment and responsibilities are clear and transparent throughout the Group and reflect operational accountabilities and SMCR framework
- Operate as the primary contact for the various regulators (including financial and data regulators) that the Group interacts with
- Working with senior management, ensure the compliance framework, policies and monitoring is in place to meet the relevant requirements of the various regulatory bodies
- Chair the risk, regulation, conduct and compliance committee for the Group. Build the committee's capability and address the governance and monitoring requirements for each of the regulated entities in the Group to meet the relevant regulatory and conduct requirements
- Work with the business operations, HR, and L&D functions to ensure appropriate training and competency policies for each of the lines of business
Extensive experience in a senior compliance role within an FCA-regulated financial services organisation - Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and influence decision-making
- In-depth knowledge of FCA Handbook, Consumer Duty, AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulations, GDPR, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in leading compliance teams
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and provide pragmatic compliance solutions
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging with regulators
- Strategic thinking skills and the ability to balance commercial objectives with regulatory requirements
