Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Directorate Support Manager within the Anaesthetics, Critical Care, Theatres and Trauma and Orthopaedic (ACTTO) Directorate. We are looking for a confident, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team based at the Princess of Wales Hospital. Reporting to the Service Manager, the post holder will be responsible for the management of services across Anaesthetics, Theatres and Pre-Assessment. The post holder will have well developed knowledge and experience of health care services and operational delivery in a managerial role. The role will act as a conduit between all surgical specialties and anaesthetics to improve theatre efficiency, service delivery and patient experience. Candidates with experience of rota management and theatre scheduling will be welcomed. Responsible for the day to day management of administration and clerical staff the successful candidate will have experience of managing people and challenging situations and be an excellent communicator., The Directorate Support Manager will have delegated responsibilities for a range of operational activities, with a focus on the following:

  • Management of anaesthetic rotas and administrative staff
  • Lead the operational management of theatre scheduling with booking teams and clinicians
  • Confidently challenge inefficiencies giving context and support of analytical data
  • Create and maintain strong working relationships with clinical, administrative & managerial colleagues
  • Produce high level reports to present to clinical and senior management teams
  • Evaluate existing pathways and processes to identify, lead and develop areas to improve
  • Engage with all surgical specialties to identify tailored approaches to address and improve inefficiencies
  • Promote good practices and standardise ways of working
  • Devote a patient focused approach to all aspects of this role
