Full Job Description

Do you like working out in the field and dealing with customers? Are you interested in operating supply networks? If so, we have a great opportunity for you within our Operations team as a Distribution Inspector in the Dorchester, West Dorset area of our region. What you'll do Distribution Inspectors are a crucial part of the Supply Networks team which manages the 24/7 operation and control of the water supply network, ensuring it delivers the continuous and high-quality supply that our customers expect. You will work across the west distribution area, covering Dorchester and West Dorset, you will be provided with a company van to help with your travels around the region. You will be trained and coached to provide solutions to network and customer problems as well as routinely inspecting the important assets that form the supply network. You will be the point of contact for resolving incidents, providing advice and dealing with various issues for planned and reactive work. The main duties of your role will include the day-to-day operation of the supply distribution network, including the mains network, booster stations and service reservoirs. You will also plan for network operations to ensure maintenance activities can be undertaken with minimum impact on the network and customer.

You need to be a strong and motivated team player who is proactive, practical and a great problem solver. You will be able to make decisions under pressure while also being able to provide flexible cover within the team. You will be able to work independently in and out of normal working hours - standby work is essential. In addition, you must have:

  • good IT skills
  • a full clean driving licence
  • effective communication
  • a can-do approach to work
  • the ability to work in accordance with our health and safety policies and safe systems of work.
