Full Job Description

Are you an experienced pharmacist with the knowledge and skills to develop highly specialist pharmacy services in haematology? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join the pharmacy team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW)., We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced clinical pharmacist to lead a team of pharmacists and technicians and be responsible for supervising and overseeing the pharmacy haematology service, implementing new developments and ideas whilst ensuring that current and future professional standards are achieved. The Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) clinical pharmacy team comprises of approximately 20 pharmacists and four medicines management technicians working across a range of specialties including adult haematology and oncology, teenagers and young adults, bone marrow transplant and Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies. The haematology service also supports patients with non-malignant haematological disorders such as ITP, TTP and haemoglobinopathies. We're a friendly and motivated team who strive to provide the best possible care for our patients and are well integrated into the wider multi-disciplinary team., The post holder will:

  • Lead and strategically develop a high level, expert clinical pharmacy service in the speciality of adult and TYA haematology, including transplant and immune effector cell therapies.
  • Practice as an independent prescriber within a multi-disciplinary team, optimising patient outcomes and improving the patient experience.
  • Provide expert pharmaceutical care to haematology patients, involving liaison with medical, nursing, pharmacy and other healthcare staff, and with patients and their carers with regards to medicine related issues.
  • Oversee the implementation of new therapies, for example via NICE technology appraisals, Early Access to Medicines Schemes or haematology treatments funded by the Cancer Drugs Fund.
  • Act as a role model for haematology clinical pharmacy practice locally, regionally and nationally., young people and vulnerable adults.
