Full Job Description

As a Dols Support Coordinator you will be responsible for Managing the Admin team and supporting the Dols team managers with the day to day running of the Dols service. You will be responsible for ensuring the administration of the DOLS service is maintained. You will need to understand the Dols process and have good knowledge of what is required for a BIA to complete a Dols assessment. You will also be responsible for supporting with gathering service statistics and ensuring data is captured and reported to senior management and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate for this role will have extensive knowledge of working in Dols Service setting and the challenges faced in terms of waiting lists and budget constraints. Job Purpose

  • Under the supervision of a Team Manager the DoLs support co-ordinator will monitor compliance of the end to end legal Deprivation of Liberty (DoLs) process to ensure the Department meets its statutory duties and procedural legal responsibilities.
  • Under the supervision of a Team Manager the DoLs support co-ordinator will manage and oversee operational practices of the DoLs support workers to ensure delivery of a high performance, high quality service that ensures the Department meets its legal procedural deadlines and responsibilities.
  • A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post., Utilise relevant technical knowledge to ensure the Department meets its statutory responsibilities and legal time scales. Including the ability to independently undertake audits and resolve legal queries and procedural errors.
  • To support the work of the DoLs service and other multi-agency sub-groups such as the LIN, MCA Regional groups, including providing statistical and performance reports, arranging meetings, minute taking and undertaking of follow-up actions to clarify decisions if required.
  • To undertake the duties of a DoLs support worker as and when required by the service, as well as, provide clear direction and effective line management to ensure the staff team are motivated, appropriately trained and following departmental objectives.
  • Co-ordinating systems and procedures as required to support the service, including relevant legislative and procedural knowledge relevant to MCA and DoLs.
  • Monitor operational practice to ensure that relevant staff (Signatory/BIA's/MH Assessor/DoLs support officers etc.) follow due processes with a high level of accuracy.

    The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team (Dols) is a County wide services that extends to Rutland. We provide a legal framework that ensure a person's human rights are protected when they are resident in a care home or hospital. A Best Interests Assessors is assigned to complete a Dols assessment for those who are deemed to be deprived of their liberty in a Care Home or Hospital. We have a statutory responsibility to complete Dols assessments for the residents of Leicestershire and Rutland. The team is made up of 22 core team Best interest assessors and 10.5 Admin Staff. The service is managed by 2-line managers and 2 Dols Coordinators.
