Fixed Term up to March 2026
The Education Engagement Team is committed to supporting children and families where problems prevent children from achieving educational success. The focus of the service is to improve pupils' access to education, either at school or otherwise.
As an Education Welfare Officer, you will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team and will need to work closely with colleagues and other professionals to ensure that children receive the best possible support. You may, on occasions, be expected to undertake legal proceedings against parents who fail to ensure the regular attendance of their child/children.
You will hold a Diploma in Welfare Studies or have an equivalent relevant qualification supported by personal or professional experience of working with children and young people. Additionally, you will have good interpersonal skills including a good standard of written communication and competent IT skills.
Opportunities for training in attendance issues, court procedures, child protection issues and any other relevant training will be made available to the successful candidate.
The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.
Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
An Enhanced with Childrens Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
A valid driving licence is requirement for this post., Disability Confident
