Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Orthopaedic Directorate at Frimley Health Foundation Trust based at Frimley Park Hospital. We are looking to recruit Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our new Elective Orthopaedic Unit.
The Unit is a brand new ward which will run a service 7 days a week. All 13 bed spaces are isolated side rooms. It is a fast paced department catering for patients having a range of orthopaedic surgical procedures.
The successful individual should be a dynamic, enthusiastic, and motivated Staff Nurse who will efficiently deliver a high standard of evidence-based nursing care.
The post holder will carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and setting of standards of care.
The successful individual should drive the GIRFT principles enabling capacity and efficient flow liaising with all MDTs and reporting to NIC/ Senior Sister.
The post holder must be a committed and compassionate nurse with exemplary communication and interpersonal skills. You will be supported with speciality specific training and skills update. There are a number of opportunities available that allow for your career progression., To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without direct supervision.
There are plenty of opportunities to develop within Orthopaedics, being supported in the completion of our ward based Orthopaedic competency document. This guides you through your first few months on the ward, ensuring you have the right set of specialist skills to provide the best care to our varied patient group.
For main duties of the job please refer to attached Job Description., + To implement and be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care.
+ To act in accordance with policies and nursing procedures as per Trust policy.
+ To co-ordinate the team/ward in absence of the team leader or ward manager.
+ To ensure confidentiality of patient records and high standards of nursing documentation.
+ To participate in ongoing clinical supervision.
+ To ensure all training undertaken is evaluated to determine it's effectiveness in practice and to ensure all objectives have been met.
+ To assist in teaching programmes for student nurses/new staff and newly qualified nurses and contribute towards a positive learning environment.
+ To promote good working relationships and to support the ward manager to achieve high morale within the team.
+ To assist in the auditing of patient care and service delivery.
This job description is an indication of the type and range of tasks that are expected of the post holder, and other duties may be required in line with the role and the banding. It will be reviewed and amended from time to time in consultation with the post holder to take account of changing organisational need.
