Electrician - If you are a dedicated and skilled Electrician with a passion for excellence, weinvite you to join our team at the United States Air Force, 48th Civil Engineer Squadron, RAFLakenheathWe are looking for someone with knowledge and experience to install, repair, troubleshoot, andmaintain various electrical systems.Why RAF Lakenheath:Located in the heart of Suffolk, RAF Lakenheath is home to the 48th Civil Engineer Squadron.This base is pivotal in maintaining international security and fostering strong alliances betweenthe US and UK. Our team is dedicated to excellence, innovation, and the highest standards ofoperational readiness., You will be responsible to install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain various electrical systems,controls, and equipment base wide plus initial and periodic Electrical Inspection, Testing andCertification within domestic, industrial and hazardous area installations including LightningProtection and associated infrastructure within the 48th Civil Engineer Squadron, RAFLakenheath. For this position you will be required to have the ability to discern colors, contrast,and depth, you will be required to pass a pre-employment physical at RAF Lakenheath. You maywork with hazardous materials such as asbestos or accumulated waste, you will be required towear protective clothing and gear on these occasions. You will also be expected to obtainATEX/DSEAR internal and external training certification within one year as well as first aidtraining for electric shock and fire safety training is required. Emergency overtime may be,

  • Installs, maintains, repairs and replaces electrical systems such as panels, services and
  • various power sources. Additionally, modifies loads, and carries out inspection and testing of new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls located in and near installation buildings and structures.
  • Troubleshoots problem areas and tests for defective equipment and faulty wiring.
  • Uses and maintains various types of hand and/or power tools, such as screwdrivers,
  • pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and
  • regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Maintains records and documents actions.

    As the Electrician you will have the knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures
  • as well as the knowledge of technical practices in order to plan, lay out, install, modify,troubleshoot, and repair and inspect and test a variety of complete systems.You will also have knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and instruments used in shopand trade practices, and of electrical equipment, i.e., test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers,circuit breaker testers, voltage recording meters, meggers, wattmeters, ohmeters, and ammeters.You will show skill in using and maintaining hand tools such as, screwdrivers, pliers, wirecutters,strippers, cable pullers, drills, soldering irons, and manual or power conduit benders andthreaders and show skill in troubleshooting and tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems.You will also have the ability to use electrical drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings, andwiring diagrams and to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various electrical systems,controls, and equipment without more than normal supervision.,
  • You must possess a City & Guilds/ NVQ level 3 Award in the requirements electrical
  • installations BS 7671 18th Edition Regulation which must be submitted with the application form in order to verify qualifications.
  • Must also possess a City and Guilds/NVQ Level 3 Award in an appropriate discipline,
  • i.e Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations City & Guilds 2391You will need to be flexible as it may be required for you to work overtime or holidays on shortnotice.All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
