Full Job Description
You will be with the Computer-Aided-Engineering (CAE) Software team working to develop and maintain innovative software solutions. As a Software Development Engineer you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team on a wide range of technical fields. You will develop and deploy process automation and integration tools, identify opportunities to use AI (Artificial Intelligence) and machine learning tools and develop workflows within commercial multi-disciplinary optimisation (MDO) tools. The CAE Simulation team is comprised of Thermofluids (CFD), Structural (FEA) and Software teams, and is responsible for supporting the design, performance and mechanical development of advanced powertrains for Caterpillar and driving the technical direction in the early stages of new products through the use of simulation tools and methodologies, as well as the virtual validation of these early concepts. In this role, you will have opportunities to ensure you gain a broad understanding of our engineering processes and build the foundations of a successful career. You will get the support, guidance and training you need to be successful at Caterpillar. We will also look for opportunities to have you explore some of the other exciting areas of our business to give you a better view of the breadth and scale of our truly global scale. In addition to this, we offer you a mentor to support your professional development and help you achieve Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with your chosen institution. Our professional development scheme is accredited and highly regarded by the IMechE and the IET. We also hold a Meet and Greet day for all new UK Graduates to provide you with an opportunity to meet fellow new starters across the UK before you start your placement. What happens after the graduate scheme? Upon successful completion of the scheme, you will be promoted to Senior Associate Engineer. This gives you the platform to continue your professional development journey and steer your career where you want it to go, be it a leadership role, technical expert, product leader or a commercial role. In a global organisation there are so many possibilities.
