Full Job Description
My name's Keir Brisbane and I am the Service Manager for the Youth Service. In our service we support young people (aged 14-25 years) who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties. We have enthusiastic and skilled staff who provide the support that is needed - and they are motivated to make a real difference to young people, their families and carers. Additionally, we are making a number of positive changes to the service; seeing waiting-lists drop and taking opportunities to think innovatively about our practice. We're really excited to offer an opportunity for a Family Therapist to work in our diverse multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to offer specialist family therapy interventions to our young people, and being a voice for this practice in our clinical discussions. If appointed you will work across our North and South Youth Teams to truly change the lives of the young people in Norfolk. Main duties of the job The role of the Family Therapist is to provide specialist therapeutic interventions to our young people, their families and loved ones. It is a chance to positively influence the way we practice as a team, and to make a lasting difference for the young people we support. If appointed, you will : Deliver family therapy interventions. Complete quality assessments with young people. Offer support, supervision and informal training to your colleagues. Contribute to multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings. Undertake other clinical tasks within the team. You will have a professional qualification in Family Therapy (with appropriate registration with a professional body), and a Qualification in a core profession (medicine, social work, nursing, occupational therapy or psychology).
Essential
- Health or Social Care professional qualification RMN, Dip OT, Clinical Psychology, Diploma in Social Work or equivalent
- Postgraduate diploma in Family Therapy or Systemic Practice Experience Essential
- Documentary evidence of continuing professional development
- Group work in mental Health
- Training and ability to deliver other therapeutic approaches DBT, EMDR, IPT, Family Therapy Desirable Audit and research Procedures Service development Skills Essential
- Able to communicate effectively with a range of individuals, clients, professionals and organisations
- Able to demonstrate a flexible enabling approach to service delivery
- Work autonomously and set down priorities and practice effective time management Knowledge Essential
- Awareness of other therapeutic approaches and application
- Awareness of safeguarding principals'
- Awareness of NICE guidelines
- Understanding of the principles of clinical governance Other Essential
- Accreditation with Association for Family Therapy (AFT) or equivalent.
- Willingness to share skills, experience and thus promote patient care
