Asset Management One International Ltd., the London-based office formerly known as DIAM International Ltd., continues to be responsible for the servicing of institutional clients in EMEA and has a fully-fledged new business, client, and marketing function. Asset Management One International Ltd. is dedicated to offering Japanese and Asian investment strategies and liquidity solutions to pension funds, financial institutions, endowments, and other large institutional and corporate investors throughout the EMEA region. In total, there are some 26 staff. Asset Management One is a joint venture between its two parent companies, leading global bank Mizuho Financial Group and the Dai-ichi Life Holdings Inc., Japan's oldest insurance company. What is the opportunity?


This opportunity will provide considerable asset management experience by being a member of a small team with daily access to all departments including the Front Office team. The work is greatly varied and includes an international focus as you will also engage with the parent company and other group subsidiaries. The Compliance department is responsible for ensuring that the business is properly and effectively controlled in all aspects. You will also assist in evaluating the effectiveness of the risk management and internal controls of the company. Previous interns/grads have come from various backgrounds such as Mathematics, Philosophy, Business, Law, and Accounting, but other backgrounds are also welcome. This role is suited to those possessing a keen interest in building solutions to complex problems and looking to build their organisational skills and responsibility.


What will you be doing?



  • Assist with testing of the design and operational effectiveness of procedures and controls.

  • Provide support to the compliance and risk monitoring programs.

  • Prepare procedures for audit testing by external auditors and work with external auditors on behalf of Asset Management One International.

  • Assist in the tracking of operational risk, maintaining records and reporting to appropriate parties.

  • Assist with maintaining company records, including policies and procedures, to ensure that all documents are maintained effectively and updated appropriately.

  • Support the Compliance team by preparing 'routine' schedules for the Management Committee, and other Committees within the governance structure.

  • Aid with the preparation, collation, and distribution of meeting papers.

  • Assist with follow up of remedial action plans agreed by management.

  • Assist with the preparation of regulatory updates for staff.

  • Support the re-certification and approval of relevant staff, certified as carrying out specific client or business-related functions.

  • Supporting the review of financial promotions and marketing communications, as issued by the business.

  • Assist with managing and preparing contracts, which includes obtaining the necessary approvals.

  • Perform due diligence and risk screening in relation to anti-money laundering, as well as other risk-based exercises.

  • Other ad hoc requests from Operations, Finance, Systems Support, and Middle Office.


What do you need to succeed?



  • Good mathematical skills.

  • Good use of the English language.

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Knowledge of rules-based programming desirable but not essential.
