Full Job Description

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is seeking to recruit a Fleet Manager who will be responsible for all matters relating to Fleet and Driver compliance, training and development.

The council's current fleet of 128 vehicles, include road registered plant, cars, vans, tippers and road sweepers. The post holder must be knowledgeable in all aspects of transport management and legislation. The post holder will be the CPC (O licence) holder for the council, responsible for ensuring that the council complies with 'O' licence regulations and associated undertakings.

In addition to fleet management and development, the post holder will directly manage the operations in-house vehicle workshop, with responsibility for road registered plant and machinery, servicing and repairs.

The post holder will also be responsible for operational depots, located at various sites. This includes liaison with depot users and Property Services who are responsible for delivery of site improvements and day to day repairs.

The council are moving towards zero or low carbon vehicles and to help deliver this, we are looking for someone with strong fleet management skills, who has a desire to make improvements, whilst ensuring compliance with budget and continued provision of fit for purpose fleet and assets.
