Applications are now being sought for a Geospatial Archaeologist at the UCL Institute of Archaeology within the ERC project 'EVERYDAYISLAM: Becoming Muslim: Cultural Change, Everyday Life and State Formation in early Islamic North Africa (600-1000), at the UCL Institute of Archaeology. This is a full-time post (36.5 hours per week) and is available until 31 December 2025 in the first instance. The post-holder will work closely with Prof. Fenwick and team-members and be primarily responsible for digitising cartographic and archaeological data, managing the existing project database, and presenting and analysing the spatial data gathered from excavation. The primary purpose of this post is to complete the processing of geospatial data from excavations in Morocco and Tunisia and to produce, maps, archaeological plans and illustrations for publications, however, there will also be scope for the post-holder to develop their own research interests (including leading on publications) in line with the overall project objectives. The successful candidate will have an MA/MSc in archaeology and/or geomatics, or a blend of knowledge and qualifications reflecting a similar level of expertise in archaeology. They will have demonstrable experience of managing project geospatial databases, processing photogrammetric data, working with georeferenced data, digitising of archaeological site plans and sections and plans, and other general archaeological illustration. Artefact illustration would be an advantage but not essential.
