Full Job Description
As a Goods Inwards & Stock Control Assistant at Venus Wine and Spirit Merchants, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate receipt, inspection, and recording of incoming goods, as well as maintaining stock control within the warehouse. Your duties will include checking delivery notes, unloading goods, organizing stock, conducting regular inventory checks, and assisting with stock rotation. You will also support general warehouse operations, including picking, packing, and dispatching orders, while adhering to health and safety regulations. This role requires strong attention to detail, basic IT skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Experience in stock control or warehouse operations is preferred, with a forklift license being desirable. Goods Inwards / Outwards
- Receive and inspect incoming deliveries for accuracy and damage.
- Check delivery notes against purchase orders and report discrepancies.
- Unload goods safely using appropriate equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet trucks).
- Organise and store received stock in designated areas.
- Checking and verifying outgoing deliveries Stock Checking & Inventory Management
- Perform regular stock checks and cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Identify and report stock discrepancies or damaged goods.
- Update stock levels on inventory management systems.
- Assist with stock rotation and ensure products are stored correctly. General Assistance
- Keep the warehouse/store area clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Assist with picking, packing, and dispatching orders as required.
- Support other departments with stock-related tasks.
- Follow company policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations.
Previous experience in goods inwards, stock control, or warehouse operations (preferred). - Basic IT skills for stock management systems.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy in stock checking.
- Ability to lift and move goods safely (manual handling training beneficial).
- Forklift license (desirable but not essential).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical role requiring standing, lifting, and moving stock. - May involve working in warehouses, stores, or outdoor loading areas.
- Shift work or overtime may be required depending on business needs.
