Full Job Description

Cirencester Corporation are looking for a new Governance Manager. This is a pivotal role which supports the Chair of Corporation and Principal to ensure effective governance in line with statutory requirements and our Corporate Goals.

We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic individual with the character, judgement and proactive nature to advise when needed and act when appropriate. You are likely to have experience of boards or education management and may have worked as a clerk or governance professional before.

We are also specifically seeking to appoint an individual with the aptitude and skills to support a modernisation of the way in which management information is made available to governors.

In line with most Sixth Form Colleges, the Corporation has significant statutory responsibilities to ensure the financial efficiency and educational effectiveness of the college. As members of the Corporation, governors discharge these responsibilities as a collective body, meeting six times per academic year as a whole. There are also currently three committees which meet once a term. The Governance Manager will work closely with the Chair of the Corporation and the Chairs of the three committees to ensure formal business is scheduled, conducted and recorded effectively, including personally drafting of minutes for formal meetings. Individual "Focus Governors" and small, ad hoc "Task and Finish Groups" take on specific areas of responsibility and may require additional support as well.

This is a role which will offer the right incumbent plenty of autonomy to manage, support and sometimes lead governance activity in support of the next stage of the college's development.

Benefits include: LGPS defined benefit pension scheme - 24%+ college pension contribution, reviewed annually (including life assurance), generous holidays, sick pay scheme, Employee Assistance Programme, free on-site car parking, on-site fitness suite, Refectory and Cycle to Work Scheme.

Cirencester College may carry out online searches during the recruitment process on shortlisted candidates, as part of due diligence checks.
