Job Description
Contract Type: Permanent
Contract Hours: up to 30 per week, term time only. We are flexible and happy to consider candidates who prefer to work between 20 to 30 hours per week.
Contract Salary: NJC Grade E SCP 12-17 £27,711 - £30,060 per annum (pro-rata)
Closing Date: 17th April 2025 at 23:59
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to join a small team working with School Governors.
You will be responsible for providing governance support to governing board meetings, committees and hearings through preparing for, attending and minuting meetings, advising on school governance enquiries and decision making procedures. A key aspect of the role is the ability to take accurate and concise minutes of formal meetings. You will also support training and development for governors and where necessary provide support for other meetings of the council.
You will need to have excellent communication skills and be confident in liaising with senior leaders of an organisation. You should possess a high level of personal organisation skills and the ability to act on your own initiative and work to tight deadlines, within set procedures. You will also need to have the ability to work with diplomacy, confidentiality and sensitivity and have a strong awareness of good governance practices.
The post is part time (up to 30hrs per week) and mainly during school term time. Please note the salary quoted is the full time equivalent, and the salary received will be paid on a pro-rata basis.
Hybrid working arrangements are currently in place, where employees have the opportunity to work in the office and at home. The post will also require regular visits to school settings. The hours worked are variable across each academic term, as workloads peak at key points and require additional hours worked. This will be balanced out with quieter times at the start and end of the term which require fewer hours worked. You must be able to regularly attend meetings outside normal office hours between 3pm and 8pm. Variable working hours provide an opportunity for staff to manage their own diary (subject to line manager approval).
This is a politically restricted post.
If you would like an informal discussion regarding this post, please contact Jacqueline Currey, Governor Services Manager, on .
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children/vulnerable adults. This post is subject to satisfactory reference history of at least two years, Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, medical clearance, evidence of any essential qualifications and proof of Right to Work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and amendments to the exemptions order, which mean that certain offences are 'protected' and do not need to be disclosed, guidance on the "filtering" of offences can be found at New filtering rules for DBS certificates (from 28 November 2020 onwards) - GOV.UK.
