Full Job Description
The Group Manager will be part of the leadership team within Knowledge Services. Positioned at the forefront of the change and transformation programme, Knowledge Services is focused on the future.
In a fast moving context, Knowledge Services anticipates the needs of the organisation. Our people need to understand the laws we oversee, the wider context and our approach to regulation. With many in house experts, training will be delivered mainly in house maximising existing knowledge and experience. Content will be aligned with other knowledge products and complement our approach to learning. With different professions and priorities across the ICO, training schedules should be tailored for the needs of different audiences., The post holder will lead the group to have excellent relationships across the ICO including with senior leadership and will contribute to cross office projects and use their network to achieve results.
They will routinely work with teams across the ICO to help with forward looking requirements and content planning, particularly with our Organisational Development teams. They will also identify gaps and possible solutions.
The work will be fast paced and timely in order to keep up with business requirements and moving priorities. It will cater to different audiences across the business
Key Responsibilities
+ To provide effective leadership for our information rights training provision across the ICO developing a new framework
+ Working with key internal stakeholders ensuring that people are clear about expectations, and motivated and developed to provide effective and efficient services.
+ Where needed, to form and manage relationships with external training providers
+ To develop the group reporting on performance and providing accurate management information using that information to inform priorities.
+ To contribute to the development of business plans consistent with the ICO strategic objectives and to oversee the effective delivery of relevant aspects of those plans.
+ To develop efficient procedures and processes supporting the framework and to deliver high quality output
+ To develop and maintain effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders.
+ Represent the group on cross office projects or cases, providing expert input as required
+ To keep up with strategic priorities and business activities .
+ To oversee the development of products and other information on issues within their Groups area of responsibility for senior leadership and the wider ICO.
+ To provide advice and support to the wider ICO
+ Proactively develop legislative expertise, keeping up with key developments in information rights legislation regulated by the ICO.
+ Information rights or legal experience could be beneficial but we welcome applications from people who have worked with similarly complex information
+ Experience of adult or young person approach to education and learning may be beneficial
+ Substantial experience relevant to the role requirements, as described in the role responsibilities and person specification, and accumulated through any combination of academic or vocational qualifications or experience.
+ Significant experience of developing frameworks or strategies responding to specific business needs including different audiences
+ Experience of managing and developing staff
+ Excellent intellectual ability to understand legal and regulatory concepts and ability to apply those to an operational approach
+ Experience of promoting strategy or direction taking account of business needs and priorities
+ Experience of delivering a timely, high quality service
Essential criteria assessed at interview stage
+ Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to persuade and maintain good relationships with senior people
+ Ability to write clear and persuasive documents such as, board papers,
+ Ability to work under pressure and prioritise strategically
+ Good judgement and ability to take decisions autonomously but also to know when to get input from others
+ Excellent verbal and written communications
+ An understanding of the wider parliamentary, democratic, political and organisational framework, Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check.

Salary: £55,591 - £62,793 pa, with potential for further progression to £70,907 pa with our pay progression scheme.
Location: Hybrid
Contracted to our Wilmslow, London, Edinburgh, Belfast or Cardiff office, however, through hybrid working we offer flexible home and office-based working opportunities. There will be times when you will be expected to attend the office to collaborate with colleagues or travel due to business need.
