The Bishop of Winchester Academy is seeking a strong and inspirational Head of Computing to join our thriving and oversubscribed academy. This will be an exciting opportunity to lead the department in achieving exceptional outcomes from all year groups and ensure that teaching staff are best equipped to meet the needs of pupils. (Ofsted 2023). Operating from recently refurbished facilities, our shared mission to improve the life chances of all of our students is at the very centre of our work. As Head of Computing, you will:
- Be able to teach KS3, KS4 and KS5
- Plan and deliver high quality and engaging lessons that will challenge students and inspire progression
- Encourage students to have high expectations of themselves and their behaviour
- Have a track record of successful outcomes and a clear, ambitious vision for the Department
- Lead the Computer Science department to the next stage in its development The post offers ample opportunities for an ambitious teacher to develop their skills, in addition to:
- Generous employer pension contribution at 28.6% basic salary
- Early Friday finish at 1pm
- A bespoke CPD programme including training and in department development time with a generous allowance of inset days
- Excellent teaching facilities including brand new interactive smart boards
- A robust behaviour system allowing teaching staff to deliver high quality learning opportunities to students
- School site in close proximity to beaches and the Jurassic Coast
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Cycle to work scheme Safeguarding responsibilities associated with this role may include engagement in regulatory activity, such as caring for an injured/upset child. It may have regular contact with young people on a day-to-day basis. The Bishop of Winchester Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will have to meet the person specification and the post is subject to safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check and Children's Barred List check.
