Head of Finance | FMCG Wellness Scale Up | King's Cross

Harmonic is very excited to have been retained by one of the UK's fastest growing start ups within the wellness space to recruit a finance leader, either at the Head of Finance or Finance Director level to support the CEO as the business continues to grow. The company is backed by high profile investors with previous success stories in the scale up environment and has a strong social media and marketing presence.

The Head of Finance will be key in shaping the company's financial strategy. Reporting directly to the CEO, the right candidate will lead the finance and commercial teams, ensuring strong financial management and driving long-term business growth. This is a great opportunity to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency in a fast-moving environment. The role involves working closely with the Head of Supply Chain to align financial planning, reporting, and decision-making with supply chain operations. The HoF will also play a crucial role in improving supply chain visibility, strengthening supplier partnerships, and enabling data-driven demand and supply planning to boost stability and efficiency.

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company's growth objectives.
  • Provide actionable insights and forecasts to support executive decision-making.
  • Critically evaluate, interpret and develop actionable insights from the long-term forecast model.
  • Lead the benchmarking exercises within the company.
  • Evaluate impact of strategic opportunities to enhance market position and drive growth.

Financial Operations

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting processes.
  • Develop financial reporting structures that incorporate key supply chain metrics, such as supplier cost variances, landed costs, fulfilment costs, stock holding and supply chain lead times. Ensure supply chain data is effectively integrated into financial models to enhance cost forecasting, margin analysis and working capital management.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
  • Manage relationship with our outsourced finance team to oversee all aspects of Finance Operations (creditors, debtors, month end, payroll etc), providing review and approval as required.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, working alongside our outsourced finance team for end of year processes and coordinating R&D claims with internal stakeholders and external advisors.

Commercial Strategy

  • Work closely with the Head of Supply Chain to establish structured forecasting, supplier performance tracking and data-driven demand planning to prevent supply shortages and inefficiencies. Develop financial models that integrate supply chain costs, working capital requirements and supplier payment structures to enhance stability and supplier relationships.

Finance Leadership

  • Full oversight of finance function and liaison with the outsourced finance team.
  • Maximise resource utilisation and delivery efficiency, collaborating with senior leaders to meet financial objectives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation and excellence.
  • Work collaboratively with other senior leaders to drive company-wide success.

Risk Management

  • Identify and mitigate financial and commercial risks.
  • Implement and oversee robust systems, processes and controls.
  • Ensure the company is prepared for future financial audits and other regulatory reviews.

Essential Experience

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience within eCommerce environments.
  • Proven track record in a senior finance leadership role of a company growing to £50m plus.
  • Demonstrated success in driving financial strategies in high-growth environments.
  • Hands-on experience with financial analysis, reporting and strategic planning.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence others.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on and adaptable approach.
  • Results-oriented and driven to achieve ambitious goals.

Bonus Experience

  • MBA or other advanced degree in finance or business.
  • Proven experience as the first finance hire in a start up/experience bringing finance in house.
