Full Job Description
We are looking for a passionate, dynamic, and experienced Head of Maths to lead our highly regarded Maths Department at a prestigious independent school. As the Head of Maths, you will have the exciting opportunity to shape and inspire students from KS3 to KS5, fostering a deep understanding and appreciation of mathematics. You will lead by example, ensuring the department delivers innovative and engaging lessons while promoting academic excellence, critical thinking, and a love for the subject. You will be responsible for leading a team of skilled teachers, supporting their professional growth, and creating a collaborative environment that enhances student achievement.,
- Lead the Maths Department across KS3 to KS5, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, engaging, and challenging lessons that inspire a passion for mathematics.
- Develop and implement curriculum improvements that enhance student learning and reflect current best practices in teaching and learning.
- Provide strong leadership and support to the department's teaching staff, offering guidance and fostering a collaborative approach to lesson planning, resources, and departmental initiatives.
- Monitor student progress, assess learning outcomes, and provide constructive feedback to help all students achieve their best potential in maths.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages students to develop confidence in their mathematical abilities, ensuring each student's academic and personal growth.
- Encourage the development of problem-solving and critical thinking skills, incorporating real-world applications of mathematics to deepen students' understanding.
- Contribute to the broader academic and extracurricular life of the school, promoting maths-related initiatives and activities that enrich students' experience.
A degree in Mathematics or a related subject. - A formal teaching qualification with QTS (PGCE or equivalent).
- Proven experience teaching Maths across KS3 to KS5, with a strong track record of student success.
- Leadership experience in a department or school, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of educators.
- Strong communication, organisational, and classroom management skills, with the ability to foster a collaborative department culture.
- A passion for mathematics education and a commitment to providing an inspiring and enriching educational experience in a supportive, independent school environment.
