GSK's General Medicines therapeutic area (TA) is vital to GSK, with a portfolio of trusted brands and pipeline in development that will impact the lives of 700 million patients in the next decade. The Senior Director, Business Performance & Operations is a senior Medical Business Leadership role, reporting to the VP, Global Medical TA Head who is a key member of GSK's organisation of the Chief Patient Officer (CPO) LT. This role is central in the delivery of impactful Medical strategies across the General Medicines pipeline and portfolio. This is a role driving improved patient and public health outcomes. He/she will require an ability to combine strategic Medical Affairs understanding with hands-on expertise in driving business performance and operational excellence in a multi-stakeholder matrix environment.,

  • Enable General Medicines to plan, deliver and execute medical strategy and operations under the accountability of the VP, Global Medical TA Head
  • Encourage laser focus on Medical Impact through adoption and use of Medical Impact Framework, partnering with the Global Medical Leads (GMLs) and Medical Insights Lead
  • Act as a strategic thought partner for the VP, Global Medical TA Head, providing structure, input and perspective to make prioritization decisions based on future goals and activities aligned with cross-functional partners and strategy
  • Work with the LT to manage key activities, planning calendar, and strategic events throughout the year; Drive high-impact LT meetings through effective agenda development, preparation, facilitation and follow up
  • Lead change management and communications activities related to the implementation and adoption of CPO principles, organizational and operating model changes including, but not limited to, GMT ways of working, data generation and scientific communications
  • Lead, coordinate and facilitate talent, development and performance discussions in partnership with HR
  • Track and manage Global TA resources, including headcount, and budget, partnering with Finance & HR
  • Lead acceleration of innovation and strategic projects as necessary (potentially transformational projects) within medical as part of the TA and GMA and provide strategic insights into projects lead by others
  • Ensure effective and efficient alignment by liaising other enterprise stakeholders, including CPO LT, other TA/functional BP&O, including Commercial, R&D, Regions/LOCs, Data Generation & Scientific Communications, Medical Strategy, Innovation & Performance, Digital & Technology, Finance, HR, Procurement and Communications
  • Escalate issues appropriately and proactively seek aligned solutions, ensuring business continuity and efficiency across the TA
  • Support governance and risk management processes as needed

  • MD/MBBS/PharmD/PhD
  • Experience in a Medical Affairs role in-country and above country
  • Experience of matrix leadership in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in Strategy and Operations within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in at least one Tier 1 market
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects, budgets, and interactions simultaneously
  • Ability to remain flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient
  • Evidence of alignment to GSK Values
