We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Retail to oversee the retail operations of our group of clubs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail management, with a passion for golf and an understanding of the needs of golf enthusiasts. The Head of Retail will be responsible for driving sales, ensuring exceptional customer service, managing inventory, and supporting a team of Golf Operations Managers., As Head of Retail, you will be responsible for overseeing and driving retail operations across our 13 golf clubs and online shop. Your primary focus will be delivering an exceptional customer experience while maximising commercial growth opportunities. This role involves managing relationships with leading golf manufacturers, overseeing stock procurement for the online shop, and collaborating with Golf Operations Managers to ensure the seamless execution of retail strategies.   • Provide leadership and direction to Golf Operations Managers, ensuring consistency in retail standards and service delivery
  • Set and achieve revenue and profitability targets for the retail business, aligning with overall company objectives
  • Develop and implement a retail strategy that drives sales and enhances the customer experience across both in-club and online retail operations.
  • Implement and enforce company policies, procedures, and retail standards.
  • Inventory, Stock & Supplier Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with leading golf manufacturers and suppliers to negotiate pricing and secure the best product ranges and pricing
  • Oversee stock purchasing, allocation, monitor and replenishment inventory levels across all locations and the online store to ensure optimal product availability.
  • Track sales trends and make recommendations for adjusting stock levels and product offerings.
  • Monitor, check and manage stock levels, minimising excess inventory while ensuring clubs have the right product mix to meet customer demand
  • Implement loss prevention strategies to minimize shrinkage
  • Retail Operations & Sales Performance
  • Work closely with and train Golf Operations Managers to ensure retail spaces within clubs are well presented, effectively managed and meet sales objectives.
  • Analyse sales data and customer trends to identify opportunities for product expansion, promotions, and improved merchandising.
  • Drive sales and profitability by ensuring high levels of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize sales, including promotions and events tailored to the golf community.
  • Regularly interact with customers to gain feedback, address concerns, and build relationships
  • Customer Experience & Promotions
  • Implement strategies to improve customer experience across all retail touchpoints, ensuring a high standard of service.
  • Organise, participate and support community outreach, retail events, custom fitting days, and product showcases to engage members, visitors and promote our retail offerings.
  • Work closely with the central marketing team to regularly promote a variety of products and events across the group, utilising key communication channels such as Email, SMS and member WhatsApp chats.
  • Financial Management & Reporting
  • Manage retail budgets, pricing strategies, and cost controls to maximise profitability.
  • Track and analyse key performance metrics, reporting on sales trends, product performance, and customer buying behaviours.
  • Manage the Group Retail budget, ensuring that the retail operations are profitable and cost-efficient.
  • Prepare and analyse sales reports, budgets, and forecasts and present regular performance updates and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Monitor and control expenses, including payroll and inventory costs.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and company regulations and standards
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns in a professional and efficient manner
  • Address and resolve any workplace safety issues or hazards.

    Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation and communication skills, ensuring positive interactions with members, guests, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Ability to develop and execute a retail strategy that aligns with business objectives.
  • Strong passion and knowledge of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories is a plus, coupled with an understanding of the game and overall industry landscape.
  • Proven experience as a Retail Manager or in a similar management role, preferably within the sporting goods or golf industry.
  • Understanding of the golf industry, including key brands, product trends, and customer buying behaviours (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience in organising product launches, retail events, and custom fitting days to boost sales and engagement.
  • Solid understanding of retail operations, including inventory management, sales strategies, and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in retail management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
