The role holder will be responsible for third party lifecycle management of c.2k Vendors with c.$4.4bn annual spend. Third Party resources are utilised across Technology for hardware / software / services and resource augmentation. The role holder will partner with senior Technology management, Business and Function-aligned Operations Directors, Regional Leads and cross functional stakeholders (e.g., Procurement / Legal), and key strategic Vendors to provide effective oversight and support across the Third Party Management lifecycle. The role holder will design, implement and manage efficient and effective operational processes; act as an independent challenge authority and provide direction to ensure Technology leverages Third Party capabilities in an optimal manner whilst protecting HSBC from unnecessary risk. The role holder champions and drives sustainable uplift in resiliency and service delivery across Third Party-provided services. Job Requirements: Define and implement process to oversee and govern the end to end 3rd party process in Technology

  • Design and Operationalise an end to end process to ensure Vendor engagements are:
  • + Aligned with the Group Chief Information Security Officer's (CISO's) strategy and Group Control and Domain strategy + Supported by Enterprise / Security Architecture + Aligned with the Technology strategy including workforce / organisational design principles + Structured in the most efficient way to ensure the correct Vendors are being considered and engaged for the proposed work + Aligned to approved budgets
  • Ensure visibility of Vendor performance (Key Performance Indicators) and opportunities for improvement
  • Support Vendor selection and run through the deal structure for new and existing Vendor engagements
  • Review tooling and governance to support end to end third party process including: third party service requests via Pioneer, Vendor performance metrics, renewal process
  • Drive third party management consistency and best practice across Technology including across Third Party Engagement Manager (TPEM) and Third Party Risk Officer (TPRO) communities
  • Oversee ongoing global service resilience uplift and embed all required changes into the end state third party operating model
  • Assess opportunities to optimise number of third party providers
  • Reduce number of third party providers without compromising service quality
  • Define and execute clear supplier management metrics to drive consistent quality, aligned to Third Party Governance Framework
  • Support Supply Chain Optimisation (SCO)
  • Manage the End to End contractual & cost approval and payment process for 3rd parties
  • Responsible for Third Party Cost management process; clear and effective control and approval process of all third party spend to enable optimisation of third party providers; optimise rates without comprising service quality; continuous improvement, build out and automation of One Purchase Order (PO) process; standardised accruals methodology globally.
  • Review and action opportunities for benefits realisation arising from the implementation of new tools

    Proven track record of senior executive leadership and management roles within the financial services industry, preferably within multinational banks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills - able to translate complex situations into a simple digestible message and able to tailor message according to the target audience. Able to create impactful presentations and updates for a senior audience.
  • Key influencer of people - can demonstrate exemplary teamwork and collaboration skills with ability to gain buy in and support to driving an end state design through to execution.
  • Strong understanding of Technology operational management requirements for banks and knowledge of the external environment - regulatory, political, competitor and market.
  • Experience of managing within a complex matrix environment.
  • Subject matter expertise across the Third Party Risk Management lifecycle, including Risk Assessment, Ongoing Monitoring and Exit Management, and across all relevant Third Party Risk domains.
  • Detailed understanding of the Third Party regulatory landscape and requirements.
  • Detailed understanding of managing the Third Party risk and control landscape, including control monitoring and assessment, major issue and read-across management, and design and implementation of compensating controls.
  • Expertise in managing large and complex Third Party relationships, including detailed understanding of Procurement and Third Party Management processes.
  • Ability to define and shape business and functional requirements, including service level agreements, and ensure the effective implementation across Third Party Management activities, including partnering with Procurement to incorporate in market assessment (RFX activities) and contract negotiations.
  • Understanding of the broader Technology control landscape and resiliency processes as they apply to Third Parties, including how to integrate these into broader Third Party Management activities to drive sustainable uplift in resiliency of Third Party provided services.
  • Strong experience in ongoing Third Party Management and Supplier Governance activities, including strategy & relationship, performance / service delivery, contract and cost commercial management.
  • Proven ability to drive change and optimisation throughout the relevant processes, including those not directly owned or managed within your function or team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make data-driven decisions to drive business outcomes.
