Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Healthcare Support worker or Phlebotomist to work as part of our primary healthcare team supporting all clinical staff to ensure the efficient and effective provision of the full range of nursing services to the patients of the Practice.,
- Carry out specific health screening and interventions to the practice population including (dependant on ability)
- Immunisations
- Anticoagulation Monitoring using INR Star
- NHS Health Checks
- Diabetic Health Checks
- Carry out clinical procedures/interactions including, but not limited to:
- Routine Injections
- Wound Care
- ECG acquisition and application of 24Hr ECG Monitoring
- Removal of Sutures/Clips
- Phlebotomy
- Dealing with Samples and testing of specimens
- Assistance in Minor Operations
- Basic Observations
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early diagnosis of illness and help monitor a recall system for patients.
- Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments with referral to the general practitioner as necessary.
- Utilise agreed Patient Specific Directions in the administration of medications/immunisations.
- Give diet and healthy lifestyle advice.
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
- Provide general and specific health screenings to the practice patients (within agreed protocols) with referral to other members of the primary and secondary health care team as necessary
- Undertake the collection of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs etc.
We are a large Practice with a "can do" attitude. We have a new purpose built facility and a large team including Doctors, Practice Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Healthcare Support Workers, GP Assistants and Paramedic Practitioners.
