HIGHER LEVEL TEACHING ASSISTANT (HLTA) - ENGLISH Required to start as soon as possible. Permanent, 35 hours per week, Term Time Only Plus Inset Days (Part Time applicants also considered) Grade 5 (SCP7 - SCP12); equating to £20,044 - £21,799 per annum) Birches Head Academy is looking to appoint an exciting and innovative Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our friendly, dynamic and collaborative English department. This is a very exciting time to join our community as the Inclusion team is expanding to meet our commitments as a truly inclusive school that embraces all aspects of comprehensive education. The successful candidate will be patient, reliable and sensitive to the needs of our pupils. They will show an enthusiasm and commitment to supporting learning in English and literacy. The ability to work as part of a close-knit team is essential. The successful candidate must hold the relevant Level 4 HLTA qualification, or have a willingness to work towards achieving this qualification. The role will focus on the development of pupil's reading and literacy skills across the Academy. The role will involve:

  • Organising and delivering reading tests across the Academy using the New Group Reading Tests through GL assessment.
  • Analysing the data following the reading tests and identifying groups of pupils who require catch up support.
  • Supporting pupils both in class and through interventions, individually and in small groups to improve their reading.
  • Full training will be provided for the successful candidate including delivery of the reading tests, analysis of the data and the delivery of the intervention programmes.
