Summary

The School of Professional & Community Learning is looking for an enthusiastic and flexible person to join our team as an Hourly Paid Lecturer to teach our Upholstery courses.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with the necessary skills to run and maintain an upholstery workshop along with teaching and supporting students with the creative making process. This will include the use of a range of materials, techniques and processes so an excellent knowledge of both traditional and contemporary skills and Health & Safety operating procedures is necessary for the role.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of upholstery and the passion to pass this knowledge on to our students of all ages.

You will support our beginner students to undertake a small upholstery project. You will cover a range of topics, including: safely using upholstery tools, measuring and estimating material, stripping frames and replacing the required materials. Our students progressing onto our intermediate course will need support building on these skills and learning more advanced techniques.

This is a fixed term position based at our Hemel Hempstead Campus, initially starting in September 2025. The end date will be reviewed annually in line with course enrolments and demand for the courses from our local communities.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 23rd March 2025 with interviews taking place on Thursday 3rd April 2025.

You will have the full support of a dynamic team and opportunities to bring your ideas to the role. Training and development are at the heart of everything we do so you'll be actively encouraged to upskill.

We have a free on site gym at our Watford Campus and you can access a wide range of discounts and benefits including a cycle to work scheme, free on-site parking, pension, generous holiday scheme, time off at Christmas and early finishes on a Friday.
