Full Job Description

Calderdale strives to develop our community to be a more inclusive economy from which everyone benefits - to reduce inequality and build a financially and environmentally sustainable future. The Housing Options Team assists members of the public to identify a wide range of tenancy and other housing issues and provide advice and support to residents to remain in their home or find alternative suitable accommodation.

Calderdale Council utilises a Single Point of Access (SPoA) for all referrals to services funded through it's Housing Related Support Contract. The SPoA has been operating for almost a year and we now require another full time Officer for a fixed term period to assist the current postholder.

The Housing Related Support Officer will be the first point of contact for enquires from both professionals and members of the public. They will be involved in the referral and assessment process by receiving and evaluating all referrals for housing related support ie homelessness, young people, and older people, etc. They'll undertake initial vetting and risk assessments of referrals and where appropriate check and challenge information. They'll identify and understand the needs of multiple/complex needs service users, identify those agencies who are/have/should be involved with service users and work with agencies, providers and service users to overcome barriers to match the referral to the most appropriate housing related support provision with the primary focus on homelessness prevention.

The successful candidate will be highly organised and have prior experience of working in a customer focused environment with experience of managing and assessing risk, and ideally have developed processes and maintained systems for receiving, recording and allocating work., Disability Confident
