Full Job Description

St Piers College is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced individual to join our outstanding team. This individual will not only lead our Personal & Social Development (PSD) Programme but will also elevate it to new heights. We are seeking an individual who is both innovative and visionary in their approach, and who is dedicated and enthusiastic about making a meaningful impact on our students and their aspirations.

In this role, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the delivery of the PSD programme. You will lead and work with tutors to create personalised and inspiring learning opportunities for young people with diverse abilities, empowering them to become successful and valued members of their community.

You will ensure the quality of our provision by collaborating with other specialist colleges and establishments, leading various learning activities, and sharing best practice. In this role, you will also network with external partners to further enhance community inclusion.

Additionally, you will have line management responsibilities for Tutors within the relevant learning pathways. You will also engage in continuous professional learning and development, aligned with our strategic priorities and quality improvement planning. The role includes operational responsibilities such as duty officer, managing incidents and supporting behavioural issues alongside other leaders.

You will stay up to date with the latest developments in specialist colleges and understand what steps we need to take to review our provision and align with new initiatives. You'll be part of an incredible team driving the college to new heights, going beyond outstanding!

Your Impact:

+ Ensure access to learning for students of all abilities, in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team.

+ Maintaining exceptional quality in teaching, learning, and assessment (TLA) through engagement with students, their families, and St Piers teams.

+ Ensuring that the rich curriculum is informed by quality assessment.

+ Ensuring high quality provision through effective collaboration with the St Piers team and other professionals.

+ Contribute to leadership and strategic planning for personalised learning.

+ Establish effective partnerships with external colleges, establishments, and local authorities.

+ Experience in SEN environments.

+ Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent post-16 teaching qualification.

+ GCSE Grade 4-9 in English and Maths.

+ Degree or similar qualification in a specialism.

+ Designated safeguarding lead experience (or willingness to undertake).

+ Leadership/management qualifications (or willingness to undertake).

+ Experience of leading and managing a team.

+ Experience of chairing or contributing to Annual Review and other associated meetings effectively.

+ Experience in quality assurance activities (session observations, learning walks, evaluative feedback).

+ Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

+ Flexible approach to work.

St Piers School and College sits in the Education Directorate of Young Epilepsy, the leading national charity working exclusively to improve the lives of children and young people with epilepsy and associated conditions.

St Piers is an innovative and creative non-maintained residential special school and college for children and young people aged 5-25 with epilepsy, autism, severe learning difficulties, speech, language, and communication needs, and sensory and/or physical needs. We work with young people to create personalised learning programmes appropriate to their individual needs and abilities. Our aim is to help them to fulfil realistic aspirations, achieve their goals, and develop meaningful and relevant skills for everyday life in society.

Children and young people are put at the heart of the learning experience, through providing an environment where everyone can make progress and gain new skills.

Payscale: 35-43

Hours 42 hours per week (Term time only- 40 weeks per year)
