Job summary

Are you an experienced and highly motivated Band 5 or an existing band 6 looking for a new challenge? Can you lead a group of enthusiastic Registered Nurses? Are you passionate in teaching and developing others to achieve their full potential? Then we want to hear from you?

This is an exciting opportunity to join and lead a dynamic team within Surgery. In return we can offer you a wide range of professional development. These include work based learning, shadowing and mentoring. Our motivated Matrons and Senior Sisters can provide you a comprehensive induction program. This will give you an opportunity to shadow some of our specialist nurses.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for dynamic individuals to help take the department forward. We pride ourselves that the patients are at the heart of everything we do. You will possess excellent communication skills and be clinically competent in the care of the surgical patient. A strong interest in developing new staff and a proactive approach to delivery of high standards of evidence based care are essential components to this post.

Astor Ward is a 30 bedded emergency surgical ward that aims to deliver the best possible care to our General Surgery, Urology, Colorectal, Gynaecology and Upper GI patients.
