Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced sonographer who is interested in expanding their scope of practice to work within our friendly team. This post would suit someone with excellent obstetric and gynaecology scanning skills and we welcome applications from registered sonographers with a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or Masters in Medical Ultrasound.
Ashford & St Peter's NHS Trust Maternity & Gynaecology is based across two sites with the main department situated at St. Peter's Hospital and a smaller one at Ashford Hospital.
We have 8 ultrasound rooms both sites, 7 of which have GE VolusonE8/E10 machines and one Samsung W10. A range of obstetric examinations from early pregnancy to term are performed, including maternal and fetal Doppler studies, together with 3D TV gynaecology scans (training can be provided for these techniques). We independently report and triage all our obstetric and gynaecological examinations. CPD is actively encouraged and supported.
We are committed to the delivery of a high quality service; the successful candidates will have the chance to make full use of their experience and skill in a supportive environment. We are a friendly multidisciplinary team with three obstetric consultants who specialise in fetal medicine, maternal medicine and multiple pregnancies and are fully committed to the continuing development of our dynamic department. We also have close ties with our tertiary referral centre at St. George's Hospital, London.
We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Lead sonographer into our Maternity and Gynaecology Ultrasound Service. We are looking for an experienced practitioner with obstetrics and gynaecology experience. Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, will uphold a professional attitude to the role with a calm and organised approach.
Perform and report obstetric and gynaecology scans in a professional and caring manner in keeping with the Trust Values.
Support the Lead Sonographer in the day to day running of an efficient service and give support to other members of the team and trainee sonographers.
Have a flexible approach to the variable demands of the service and the ability to work under pressure.
Ashford and St. Peters Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of more than 410,000 people living in North-West Surrey, parts of Hounslow and beyond.
Over 3,700 highly trained doctors, nurses, midwives, therapists, healthcare scientists and other support staff make up our workforce, providing a wide range of services across our two hospital sites, Ashford, Surrey and St Peter's, Chertsey, Surrey.
We also run many specialist clinics in the community and local community hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
Our vision is to be one of the best healthcare Trusts in the country. There has never been a better time to join us in the NHS at ASPH. We are committed to providing continuous professional development, staff benefits and flexibility to shape our workforce around our patient care.
This is an exciting time to join our Trust, as we work on the expansion of our theatres at Ashford Hospital and move towards this becoming our dedicated elective centre. We want to create a state-of-the-art centre for excellence for planned surgical procedures; with care delivered by dedicated, specialist teams in a modern and well-equipped environment.
We hope to use this centre to create an environment of learning and to facilitate training of the next generation of our skilled NHS workforce. Our plans are ambitious - why not, come and be a part of our journey.
