Learning Support Assistant (Casual) Salary: £12.99 per hour Hours: casual Weeks Per Year: 36 Contract Type: Casual Site: Nelson and Colne College Closing Date: Monday 21st April 2025 - midnight Interview Date: TBC 'Would you like to be part of a team that aims to create the extraordinary?' The Exciting Role An exciting opportunity has become available for a number of Learning Support Assistants based at Accrington & Rossendale College and Nelson and Colne College (successful candidates may also be required to travel across sites). There are a variety of different hours available for these positions across both sites. Please state your preferred site and hours in your application. What You Will Be Doing:
- Providing high quality learning support to individuals or small groups of learners with special educational needs and disabilities and/or additional support needs for literacy and numeracy, implementing recommended inclusion strategies and liaising regularly with curriculum colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to support. This includes in and out of class support, educational visits and work placement.
- Recording, reviewing and adapting support strategies throughout the academic year as appropriate using college systems.
- Assisting learners to use specialist equipment and ensuring that learners understand the importance of assistive technology and encouraging its use both in and outside of the classroom to promote independence.
- Maintaining up to date records of support delivered and the impact of the support for the learner using college systems.
- Contributing to Annual Reviews for learners with Education, Health and Care Plans. What We Are Looking For:
- English and Maths qualifications at a minimum of GCSE Grade 4 or Level 2.
- Qualification related to SEND or the support of Teaching and Learning or willingness to work towards.
- Level 2 qualification in IT or evidence of good practical IT skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of a range of additional needs and their impact upon an individual's capacity to learn.
- A flexible and student-centred approach.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. What We Offer in Return:
