Full Job Description
We're building a new Legal Support Team to provide administrative and casework support to the Lawyers within the in-house Legal Services Team and are looking for 2 Legal Support Caseworkers with a collaborative and positive approach to their work. This is an opportunity to join a team that is passionate about social housing law and a chance to work within a close-knit, busy in-house legal team dealing with all aspects of tenancy and leasehold management law including possession, disrepair, anti-social behaviour plus other tenancy and leasehold issues including service charge disputes. The role The role will be to provide efficient, effective and timely administrative and casework support to the in-house Legal Services Team. You will be responsible for:
- Acting as the first point of contact for post, telephone calls, e-mails and queries on behalf of the Legal Services Team.
- Triaging new case referrals and enquiries and allocating within the team
- Completing the initial review for Disrepair cases, drafting the first response and managing communication between key stakeholders to ensure protocol and settlement deadlines are met with Disrepair cases being progressed and concluded in a timely manner
- Preparation of court papers including drafting of basic legal correspondence, claim forms, applications, witness statements and photocopying and preparation of court bundles
- Maintaining the Legal case management system files and procedures to ensure accurate reporting
- Processing invoices and payments in a timely manner and ensuring that accurate records are kept of all departmental invoices
Knowledge and Experience working within a Legal Team whether in-house or in private practice - Basic knowledge of Housing Law and, specifically, Housing Conditions (Disrepair) Claims
- Proven experience in evaluating, managing and triaging legal enquiries and case referrals and the ability to understand which cases require prioritising
- Excellent communication and written skills
