  • Are you interested in working with Oxford's local communities? Do you think you could help them to share stories about their heritage and the history of the city with other people? Are you creative and organised? If you are all these things, this could be an opportunity for you. In 2025, the Museum of Oxford will celebrate turning 50 years old. With the help of funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we will be working in partnership with Oxford's communities to celebrate and share 50 new stories of our local heritage. The Cultural Learning and Participation Apprentice is a new National Lottery Heritage Fund funded position and will play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of the Museum of Oxford's 50th birthday year project. Based in the Museum and in the local community, you will work with community groups and support them to share their heritage by sharing objects, creating new displays in the Museum of Oxford, collecting oral histories and writing new museum labels. Up to 20% of your placement with the Museum will be dedicated to training, and as part of this training you will complete a Level 3 Cultural Learning and Participation Officer Apprenticeship with Westminster Adult Education Service. Alongside support from the museum team, they will support your placement and create structure for your learning and coursework.
