This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Libraries Team.
We pay an attractive salary of £12.85 - £13.05 per hour and offer access to training and development opportunities.
Libraries are more than just repositories for books - Caerphilly Library Service plays a valuable role to all residents in the community. Our library spaces are trusted, free to enter and open to everyone. In them, people can explore and share reading, information, knowledge and culture.
Do you have good communications, customer care and team working skills? Are you flexible in your approach and able to work under pressure? Do you have an interest in books and their potential for education, recreation and personal development together with an appreciation of the uses of ICT applications and the Internet? Working hours will be as follows:
WEEK 1: Thursday 09:00 - 13:00 / 14:00 - 17:00
WEEK 2: Thursday 09:00 - 13:00 / 14:00 - 17:00 & Saturday 09:00 - 12:00 / 13:00 - 16:00
The post involves working with other members of staff in a busy environment, or at times, lone-working at a single-staffed service point, providing a wide range of services to the public. Duties will be all of those associated with the day to day running of the library, including the issue, return and shelving of books, assisting with ICT, receipt of monies and dealing with personal and telephone enquiries.
The library is a designated Welsh language reception point. This post requires the successful post holder to converse with customers in the medium of Welsh. A spoken knowledge of Welsh would be desirable but not essential and CCBC will support staff to undertake Welsh language training.
For the post, we ask that you have:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A-C (or equivalent)
Experience of working in a customer focused environment
Knowledge and understanding of the role and of the services offered by the public library service., Disability Confident
