Full Job Description

We are looking for 2 individuals who are passionate about libraries and the communities they serve. Library and Community Access Workers assist in the delivery of front of house and behind the scenes tasks. Supporting customers with library related queries, offering a wide range of information and signposting, completing admin tasks and delivering library interventions to children, young people and adults., As the Library and Community Access Worker you will:

  • undertake back-office duties, checking delivery notes, bills, records and raising queries and to undertake physical work, including shelving books, packing and unpacking stock, stock editing and repairs, locking and unlocking buildings.
  • work directly with customers to engage and interest them in developing their reading and learning and IT skills, across all libraries and in outreach locations (in Rutland).
  • To deal with customers membership and enquiries on a wide range of issues, signposting appropriately.
  • To assist the Library Practitioners and Team Leader, to develop and maintain a digital and virtual offer, using engaging displays, websites, and social media, which supports inclusive access to advice and information, to self-refer to relevant services, and creates innovative ways for service users, to receive a range of services, such as library services, wellbeing, and activity programmes.
  • To use a data system which will provide a range of information.

  • Educated to GCSE level Maths and English
  • Relevant experience of library, information delivery, or customer care service delivery with service users, in a community context.
  • Knowledge of Internet, Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel and Access, Disability Confident
