Full Job Description

Our Technical, Production and Costume Department plays a leading part in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering technical excellence for every performance, rehearsal, and event., We are now seeking to recruit a Linbury Theatre Costume Manager. In this role you will oversee, plan and manage costume related work for the Royal Ballet and Royal Opera productions in The Linbury Theatre, project managing and acting as Costume Supervisor (Costume Production Manager) or Costume Performance support, when required. You will also support the Costume needs of visiting companies and the activities of the education and commercial events departments in the Linbury Theatre.

This role will suit an experienced candidate with strong communication skills. You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of managing performance related costume duties in theatre, and experience of costume supervision in the theatre industry.
  • An understanding of theatrical costumes and basic wardrobe practices.
  • Experience of staff supervision and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and manage conflicting demands.
  • Strong budgetary skills, and the ability to plan and schedule ahead and work to tight deadlines
  • Experience in the management of sewing machines, washing machines, general cleaning equipment and specialist dry-cleaning processes.
  • Awareness of wardrobe-related health and safety issues.
