Full Job Description

To work in and support the Tertiary General Dermatology service. To work in and support the Severe Hidradenitis Suppurativa service. To work in and support general adult/community dermatology services. To lead on clinical governance within the dermatology department, helping ensure a high standard of safe patient care. To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.

The St John's Institute of Dermatology provides a wide range of multidisciplinary specialist clinics as well as general dermatology services. Formerly a post graduate teaching hospital it is now fully integrated into the Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Guy's and St Thomas' School of Medicine (GKT) of King's College London (KCL). St. John's Institute of Dermatology contributes to GKT research activities as part of the Division of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, GKT Medical School, King's College London and provides an annual MSc postgraduate course. Cutaneous medicine is also one of seven designated themes which form a core component of the Biomedical Research Centre at GSTT and KCL., As an organisation, we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This includes asking certain groups of staff to work more flexibly so that we can offer services to patients in the evenings and at weekends. We regard this flexibility as essential if we are to continue to provide first class patient care in the future. As a result, any offer of employment to a consultant post will be subject to you agreeing to work a new more flexible pattern of working in the future if required and in accordance with the provisions of the new Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust consultant contract.
