Full Job Description
Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Paediatrician with appropriate skills and experience in palliative medicine to work as part of the All Wales Paediatric Palliative Care Network, both in the tertiary centre and in a large local district general hospital as well as a Children's Hospice. This is a part-time post working 7 sessions per week., Core tertiary work is shared with the other three Consultants on the team on a 'Consultant of the week' basis. In addition to that core All Wales work, the post offers tertiary cover to patients in Swansea Bay and Hywel Dda Health Boards.
The post combines tertiary work with local Level III provision in Swansea Bay Health Board. The hospice element of the post provides medical palliative care support to inpatients at Ty Hafan Children's Hospice alongside other Consultant colleagues.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.
Consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.
You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary for this post is £81,620 per annum for a 7-session commitment.
Applicants should preferably be on the GMC Specialist Register and must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is one of the largest Integrated Health Boards in the UK, employing over 15,000 staff, providing over 100 specialist services.
